Reese Witherspoon hit by a car

Reese Witherspoon was hospitalized on Wednesday after she was hit by a car while jogging.

The Water For Elephants star was running in Santa Monica, California when she was mowed down by a vehicle motoring along at approximately 20 miles per hour (32km/h), according to police reports.

She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she received treatment for minor injuries. The driver was an 84-year-old woman who was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.

A statement from her representative reads, "The actress was not seriously injured and is resting comfortably at home."
