A Day with Rachel Zoe

My fav stylist of all times: Rachel Zoe. I love her The Rachel Zoe Project, so I thought that it would be fun fo you to see how a day of hers can look like.

6 AM—Wake up. Read Women’s Wear Daily. Check e-mail, then drink one or two cups of very strong tea. Look at various collections in look books and online for all of my clients’ upcoming fittings, editorial shoots and ad campaigns.

9 AM—Conference calls about the product line I’m launching in the fall. It’s going to consist of bags, jewelry, scarves, faux-fur outerwear, sunglasses and a fragrance. I’m very hands-on; I don’t want to put my name on anything I wouldn’t want to wear myself.

10 AM—Another conference call to discuss an ad campaign Jennifer Garner is doing. After my call, I need to edit the film from a fashion shoot one of my clients shot last week to make sure the story we were going for is conveyed in the chosen shots. Our goal was late-’70s, early- ’80s high fashion, incorporating the fall runway looks.

NOON—Run into my closet, grab my uniform—Seven jeans, a T-shirt or a tank (usually Alexander Wang or Rick Owens), paired with a cropped, fitted, vintage Chanel or Louis Vuitton jacket. I pretty much have a 10-minute routine to get ready—throw on the uniform and put on some moisturizer, mascara and a little Nars stick on my cheeks for color.

1 PM—Grab lunch at Joan’s on Third, which is a great location for me because it’s close to my studio. I love the butter-lettuce salad.

2 PM—Head to fittings at a client’s house. Usually takes about two hours. I’ll bring approximately 50 looks, but we’ll need to find about 15 that work for upcoming press junkets, press appearances and premieres she has over the next four weeks to promote her movie.

3 PM—I stop by my go-to vintage boutiques— Decades and Resurrection—and then head to showrooms like Starworks and Bismarck Communications or stores like Christian Dior and Chanel to pull several looks for an upcoming job.

4 PM—Go to my studio. Film a few scenes for my Bravo show. I have a meeting with my team and another conference call. Go through racks in the studio and pick my favorite selects for various clients.

5 PM—Another call about my product line. I have to pick fabrics for the bags and sign off on the final design. I also have to sign off on the sunglasses after taking a look at the prototypes.

6 PM—Meeting with my whole team about the rest of the week— photo shoots, ad campaigns, press tours, editorial shoots. We also have full days of filming the show. After meeting with my team and the producer of my show, it’s time to start getting ready for the night’s events.

7 PM—Race home and do a quick change for a Cartier event tonight. I never think about what I’m wearing until five minutes before I leave. I go into my closet and put on whatever dress jumps out at me, which is usually some vintage dress that doesn’t need to be altered (I forget to alter my clothes a lot). Sometimes, if I’m feeling casual, I’ll wear a sequined top with jeans.

8 PM—Dinner with my husband, Rodger— usually at the Chateau Marmont or Sunset Tower Hotel.

11 PM—Go to bed.

1 AM—Fall asleep with my BlackBerry next to my head, turned on.

xoxo,
Vicky
